LOL: Ladies Of Laughter with Noreen Khan

BBC Asian Network presenter, Noreen Khan hosts a night of comedy with some of the UKs favourite female acts. Come along for an evening of laughter with Sindhu Vee, Sukh Ojla & Annette Fagon.

Noreen Khan A passion for music decided Noreen’s career as a presenter. In 2003 she began presenting for a local hospital radio show, before touring the world as a musician with the ‘Sonik Gurus’. Tiring of life on the road, she returned home, unpacked her bags and began presenting for the radio station Club Asia.

It wasn’t long before her love for music and cheery personality saw her headhunted by the BBC Asian Network and in 2007 Noreen joined as the host of the Asian Network Chart Show moving to the Weekend Breakfast show two years later, before taking the helm at Drivetime in 2010.

You might have also seen Noreen on TV where she created and hosted ‘The Fizzy Quiz Show’ on Brit Asia.

Sindhu Vee is a British-Indian comedian and a mother of three. A former Investment banker, she has studied Political Science and Philosophy before becoming a stand-up comedian. Sindhu believes that being funny is in her genes. This new lady on the comedy scene is sure to bring smiles with unparalleled sarcasm and wit.

Sukh Kaur Ojla is a UK based actress, writer, comedian and professional daydreamer. Sukh has appeared in a number of theatre productions as well as TV appearances such as Victoria and Abdul, Black Mirror & EastEnders. Sukh is one of the names to watch out for on the comedy circuit. Having played from small rooms she was recently selected for the BBC Asian Network Live event – her observation about the disadvantages of having to move back in with her parents, including not being allowed to ever turn over from the Sikh channel featured as one of the funniest moments of the night!

Annette Fagon is a loud and engaging comic. Growing up as that rare thing in the midlands of the 1980s, the daughter of a Jamaican newsagent mother, has clearly left its mark. Despite years of child drama classes and theatre performances, Annette frustrated her mother by spending 6 years at university, leaving without a degree, and returning to work there for a further 2 years. After a variety of odd jobs – disability support worker, theatre house manager, comedy club waitress – Annette took up an odder job, in stand up comedy. Currently talking – loudly – about everything from hoodies and mobile phone habits to Beyonce’s mental state, she has made rapid progress, appearing at theatres around the country. Annette’s early efforts have quickly created a buzz.

‘With this sort of retro observational comedy, she’s just like Peter Kay would be – well, if he were female, black and from Leicester’ CHORTLE

Advance tickets are available online now from SEE TICKETS, TICKETWEB, LUNA TICKETS & SKIDDLE (all subject to their booking fees).  Also available in person from the venue where there are no booking fees. All shows are £2 per ticket more if purchased on the door (subject to availability).
